  • Common Cause: A nonpartisan nonprofit advocacy organization that seeks to hold leaders accountable to the public interest and offers many legal volunteer and intern opportunities. http://www.commoncause.org
  • Criminal Justice Initiative: The Open Society Institute’s U.S. Justice Fund promotes a better understanding of and support for effective and humane responses to criminal behavior and victimization.  Information about grants, scholarships, and fellowships. http://www.soros.org:80/crime/
  • Essential Homepage: This page provides extensive information about a variety of public interest organizations and is also the home of the Good Works page, which provides a searchable database of public interest positions nationwide http://www.essential.org
  • Fair Housing: A nationwide page for attorneys and advocates interested in housing issues.  The job opportunities page lists positions for lawyers, advocates and non-profit managers with organizations nationwide.     http://www.fairhousing.com
  • Frederick B. Abramson Public Service Award: Fellowship awarded to a graduating law student or judicial law to be used as partial compensation for one year’s employment with either a 501(c)(3) public interest law firm or other not-for-profit service organization in the District of Columbia http://www.abramsonfoundation.org
  • Idealist: Internet non-profit center that provides a link to organizations in over 120 countries.  Many of the sites contain both internships and permanent positions with public interest organizations. http://www.idealist.org  
  • Impact Fund: Non-profit founded with the mission of enhancing lawyers’ abilities to bring public interest litigation in the areas of civil rights, poverty, and environmental justice.http://www.impactfund.org

  • Philanthropic Research Inc.: This website contains information on over 800,000 non-profit organizations, their mission statements, and contact information http://www.guidestar.org
  • Public Interest Law Initiative: Offers internship and fellowship programs for law students and new law school graduates to work at public interest law agencies in Chicago. http://www.pili-law.org
  • Trial Lawyers for Public Justice: A national public interest law firm.  Includes job openings and public interest database. http://www.tlpj.org
  • United Nations: Lists clerkships, attorney, and law-related jobs with the UN.  Site is free and easy to use.  Click on “site index,” then “employment ops,” then “legal.” http://www.un.org
