Driving Directions

Please note: Grundy is undergoing several road construction projects. Be prepared for traffic delays and detours. Grundy is also in the final stage of implementing E-911, which has caused many roads to be renamed. Be cautious when using MapQuest, Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, or GPS directions.

General Information

Take Interstate 77 south to exit 9 (Princeton). Drive through Bluefield and continue on Rts. 19/460 West for approximately 40 miles. Stay on Rt. 460 West by taking a right in Claypool Hill. It is approximately 30 miles (about 45 minutes) into Grundy from that point. Continue until you arrive at the stop lights at the Rts. 460/83 intersection (the sign will say "Stacy" and "West Virginia line"). Turn right onto Rt. 83 East, which is Edgewater Drive. After the turn, the law school building will be the second building on the left; the Library is the building immediately after that. Visitor parking is in the small lot in between the two buildings; student parking is available at the old Food City building (on the other side of the Classroom Building) and at the Grundy Baptist Church (on the other side of the Library).

From the EAST (Richmond/Roanoke)

Take Interstate 81 South to exit 118 (Christiansburg). Continue on Rt. 460 West for approximately 50 miles until you pass Interstate 77. From there, continue to drive on Rts. 19/460 West for approximately 40 miles. Stay on Rt. 460 West by taking a right in Claypool Hill. It is approximately 30 miles (about 45 minutes) into Grundy from that point. Continue until you arrive at the stop lights at the Rts. 460/83 intersection (the sign will say "Stacy" and "West Virginia line"). Turn right onto Rt. 83 East, which is Edgewater Drive. From the SOUTH (Charlotte, NC)

Take Interstate 77 North to exit 9 in West Virginia (Princeton). Drive through Bluefield and continue on Rts. 19/460 West for approximately 40 miles. From the SOUTH (Tri-Cities Airport [TRI], Bristol, TN)

Take Interstate 81 North into Virginia. Take Exit 14 into Abingdon. Stay on Rt. 19 North through Hansonville, drive through Lebanon and some smaller communities, then eventually to Claypool Hill. At Claypool Hill, take a left onto Rt. 460 West. It is approximately 30 miles (about 45 minutes) into Grundy from that point. Continue until you arrive at the stop lights at the Rts. 460/83 intersection (the sign will say "Stacy" and "West Virginia line"). Turn right onto Rt. 83 East, which is Edgewater Drive. After the turn, the law school building will be the second building on the left; the Library is the building immediately after that. {Total travel time from the airport is approximately two and a half hours.} Visitor parking is in the small lot in between the two buildings; student parking is available at the old Food City building (on the other side of the Classroom Building) and at the Grundy Baptist Church (on the other side of the Library).

From the WEST (Lexington, KY)

Take Rt. 402 East until it connects with Rt. 460 East outside Salyersville, KY. Continue on Rt. 460 East through Pikeville to the Kentucky/Virginia border. Grundy is approximately 13 miles past the state boundary line. Take Rt. 83 into Grundy. After passing Grundy Community Center (theatre) on your left, turn left at the lights to continue on Rt. 83. The law school building will be the second building on the left after the light; the Library is the building immediately after that. Visitor parking is in the small lot in between the two buildings; student parking is available at the old Food City building (on the other side of the Classroom Building) and at the Grundy Baptist Church (on the other side of the Library).
