    Open House Scheduled The Appalachian School of Law welcomes all prospective students to attend our Open House on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Open House will feature an interactive classroom experience, campus tour, and panel discussion. Lunch will be provided. Prospective students will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and students to discuss academics and campus life.   • 3/10/2010 – ASL mock-trial team has strong showing at regional contest
    For the first time in school  history, ASL&rsquos mock-trial team  advanced to the semifinals in the American Association of Justice Mock Trial  Regional Competition, placing third among 16 teams. The competition was held  Feb. 26-28 in Pittsburgh.  ASL team members were  third-years Mike Gembitsky, Katie Hall, and Chet Palumbo, and second-year Katie  Murray.   • 3/10/2010 – ASL to hold 8th Annual Memorial 5K Run/Walk
      The Appalachian School of Law will hold its 8th Annual Memorial 5K Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27. The event honors Tony Sutin, Tom Blackwell, and Angela Dales, who died in 2002. Registration costs $13 before March 24 and $15 afterward, including the day of the race. T-shirts are included in the fee. Trophies will be awarded to the top overall male and female winners, and medals will honor the top three finishers in each run category.   A pasta dinner is slated for 5-8 p.m. March 26 at the Booth Center on campus.        The United Nations has fallen short in its efforts to address climate change, Dr. Lenny Bernstein told the ASL community January 26. The threat is real, and a global approach is needed", he said. But we may simply need to start over. Failure could be constructive. Lax enforcement, unrealistic emissions targets, and inability to police global-warming gasses in the developing world are among the factors to blame, he said.
