Michael Kirkpatrick served 24 years in the United States Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. His military duties included many years in the intelligence field, Shore Patrol, Port Security, and Emergency Response. While serving in the military he completed the Leadership Management Education Training School, Navy Basic Instructor School, and the Naval Warfare Intelligence School. He served as Command Equal Opportunity Advisor and Chief Master-at-Arms prior to retirement.

Mr. Kirkpatrick graduated from the Central Criminal Justice Training Academy and completed courtroom security school. He is a certified police officer through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Service.

He has a combined 30 years of Civilian Law Enforcement and Investigative Experience with the Western State Hospital Police, Augusta County Sheriffs Officer, Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office, State Welfare Fraud Investigator, and the Division of Capitol Police. He recently retired with the Division of Capitol Police. He is a certified General Instructor and Gang Specialist with the Virginia Gang Investigator Association.

His primary duties included; courtroom security at the Virginia Supreme Court and executive protection for government officials. Mr. Kirkpatrick currently is married and has four children.
