At Appalachian School of Law, we take a tailored approach to career services. The Director of Career Services gets to know our students and alumni individually and advises them one-on-one and in small groups regarding their career aspirations and plans for success.
The director also facilitates attendance at job fairs, coordinates applications for judicial clerkships, provides programming on career-related topics, organizes resume collections for potential employers, and guides regular resume workshops where students write and edit their resumes together in a collaborative, supportive environment. Along with our faculty, they are also actively engaged in writing recommendation letters.
Students have the opportunity to participate in mock interview sessions to prepare them for job interviews they will face during the 3L year and after graduation.
The director heavily promotes networking while in law school. There are ways students can network every day in their lives and they are taught the importance of taking advantage of every opportunity to network every chance they get. This is one way that many students can obtain employment after graduation.
Career Services also maintains a Facebook page where students, alumni, and Career Services staff come together to share employment opportunities, network, and promote professional development.
