M. Rachel Wolfe is a 2010 graduate of Transylvania University with a B.A. in History, a 2013 graduate of the Appalachian School of Law with a JD, and a 2019 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center with a Master of Laws in Global Health. While a student at the Appalachian School of Law, she served as an editor on the Appalachian School of Law Journal, externed for the Supreme Court of Virginia, and served on the Student Bar Association for three years.
After law school graduation in 2013, Ms. Wolfe sat for and passed the Virginia Bar Exam and started her career clerking for the Honorable Chadwick S. Dotson of the Wise County and City of Norton Circuit Court from 2013 to 2015. Since 2015, Ms. Wolfe has been a full-time attorney with the law firm of Wolfe Williams & Reynolds in Norton, Virginia and practices federal black lung litigation where she has successfully argued three cases before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2020, she became licensed to practice law in the state of West Virginia and became an adjunct professor at the Appalachian School of Law and taught a black lung practicum course.
Ms. Wolfe served as President of Wise County Bar Association from 2016 to 2018. Additionally, she has served on the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar from 2016 and 2020 and is currently a Director at Large for the Conference of Local and Specialty Bar Associations of the Virginia State Bar.
After serving as Vice President of the Appalachian School of Law Alumni Association from 2020-2021, Ms. Wolfe became President of the Alumni Association in 2020 and serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees.
Ms. Wolfe is a seven-time half marathon runner, tennis fan, and dog mom to a Goldendoodle named “Tuck.”
