"During my time in law school, I not only was able to gain my Juris Doctor — I was able to leave a positive change in the community." — Student Testimonial

When I came to ASL, I found a group of students eager to learn, optimistic about the future, full of zeal and a sense of calling. I also found a team of experienced educators who love to teach and love their students, and who truly understood the magnitude of their mission. — Justice (ret.) Elizabeth McClanahan, President of ASL

At ASL, we are becoming bigger, better, faster, stronger — we are moving mountains! We hope that you will continue with us on our journey.

Aiming high — In September of 2020, ASL graduates achieved the highest Virginia bar passage rate in ASL’s history.

The Mission

Without lawyers, the Rule of Law would be a vain dream: the parlor talk of the chattering class, a mirage that some claim to see but never truly exists.
No great legal victories in the courts or the boardrooms or the town square just happen. There is almost always a lawyer there advocating for his or her client, seeking justice by their lights, calling upon others to recognize the inherent rights to fair play and equal treatment. ASL believes in cultivating well-rounded attorneys – people that rigorously study and respect the law and care about their clients and communities.
